Alcoholism, currently called Alcohol Use Disorder, is a pattern of alcohol use that involves problems controlling your drinking, being preoccupied with alcohol, continuing to use alcohol even when it causes problems, having to drink more to get the same effect, or having withdrawal symptoms when you rapidly decrease or stop drinking. Additional signs of alcoholism include;
- Avoidance of family or close friends when drinking
- Blackouts or the inability to remember what happened when you were drinking
- Feeling anxious or uncomfortable if alcohol is not available.
- Legal problems caused by drinking including DUI/DWI
