For many of our clients, their drug or alcohol addiction has progressed to the point at which, if they stop, they experience painful withdrawal symptoms. At Hickory House, our Medical Director assesses each client and prescribes a detox protocol to alleviate these symptoms.
How Does Detox Work?

Withdrawal from alcohol or opiates produces some of the most uncomfortable symptoms. These include:
- Intense headaches
- Muscle aches
Our Medical Director will determine the best protocol to alleviate these symptoms as your body regains the ability to function normally without the addictive substance.
In some cases, withdrawal from alcohol can be serious and life-threatening. If our Medical Director determines that the severity of your detox requires a level of medical care that we do not provide, we will refer you to an appropriate facility prior you beginning treatment at Hickory House.
What Happens After Detox?
Once through detox, the bulk of the substance will no longer be in the body and most individuals will be free of acute withdrawal symptoms. Our clinical team will meet with you and outline a treatment plan and help you get started on the road to recovery,
