Commissioned by Mary Addison Tutwiler to research her family and its allied branches, Stratton Nottingham produced this volume in 1931 as the completion of that study. During an agebefore word processors, computers, and dot coms, Mr. Nottingham gleaned information on ten families, in six counties, in three states. Organized the information according to each family, family lines are recorded and pertinent wills and deeds are noted.
The earliest records show that Richard Kellam, Sr. came into the Virginia Colony in 1636 on The Primerose and later married Sarah Ansley. Three of the Addison ancestors were civil and military officers and members of the Virginia House of Burgesses.
While this book was intended for the Addison Family, Mr. Nottingham’s collection of court documents touch many families and has appeal to all people who are interested in history and have roots on the Eastern Shore.
