Hickory House publishes genealogy books, history books, court records, and books of general interest that relate to the Eastern Shore. If you are wondering just where the Eastern Shore is,a little strip of land that divides the Atlantic Ocean from the Chesapeake Bay. The DelMarVa Peninsula is made up of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Two Virginia counties, Northampton and Accomack, extend from the Maryland state line to the tip of the peninsula. The entire Virginia section was once called Accawmacke, after the Indian chief who once ruled this territory. Northampton County, the southern most county, has the distinction of having the longest continuous historical records in the country. From these records are drawn many of the volumes published by Hickory House.
