Hog Island Narrative

Hog Island, Virginia is one of the islands which makes up the Barrier Reef along the east coast of the Virginia portion of the Delmarva Peninsula.It begins at the Maryland-Virginia state line and continues south to the Chesapeake Bay. In this narrative L. E. Doughty describes his life on his island home from 1910-1923 and how nature provided for the necessities of the island residents and how those people lived and used what nature had to offer.
