Exploring the Oldest Continuous Court Records

Exploring the Oldest Continuous Court Records of America,
is a collection of historical documents compiled from records
located in the Northampton County, Virginia, Clerk’s Office.
Although one of the earliest records is dated 1628, the Court
Records for Northampton County are continuous from 1632 to the
present. The twenty-four documents in this collection focus
attention on the value and importance of these old records as
we strive to understand the past in an ever-changing present.
Many of the people active in these documents have familiar
surnames because they are the ancestors of people who live
on the Eastern Shore today.
