If you are wondering just where the Eastern Shore is, the map to the left shows a little strip of land that divides the Atlantic Ocean from the Chesapeake Bay. The DelMarVa Peninsula is made up of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Two Virginia counties, Northampton and Accomack, extend from the Maryland state line to the tip of the peninsula. The entire Virginia section was once called Accawmacke, after the Indian chief who once ruled this territory.
